NEW CABINET MINISTERS SWORN IN
Chief Justice Nthomeng Majara led the swearing in of six new cabinet
ministers and a deputy minister at the ceremony held at the Royal Palace
premises in Maseru on Monday.
While those who were already Deputy Ministers did not take oath of
office as they had already done earlier, they only took oath of
allegiance of office.
First to take oath and to be sworn-in was new Minister of Development
Planning, Mr. Semano Sekatle who is a Member of Parliament for Lebakeng
Mrs. 'Marefuoe 'Muso, who has been promoted to Minister of Forestry and
Land Reclamation only took oath of office as she was the Deputy Minister
of Gender and Youth, Sports and Recreation.
The new Minister of Small Business Development, Cooperatives and
Marketing, Mrs. 'Mantoetsi Mohatonyane who is a Member of Parliament by
virtue of Proportional Representation (PR), took oath of allegiance
after being promoted from the position of the Deputy Minister of Health.
Mr. Mootsi Lehata from Makhaleng constituency is the new Minister of Law
and Constitutional Affairs and replaces Mr. Mokhele Moletsane who
resigned as cabinet Minister last year.
New Minister in the Prime Minister's Office is Mr. Palo Leteetee who
takes the position left vacant by Mr. Monyane Moleleki who also resigned
from the position of the Minister of Police and Public Safety in 2016.
Member of Parliament for Moyeni, Mr. Rapitso Mahooana Khati took oath of
allegiance to His Majesty the King and was also sworn in as Minister of
Public Service, replacing Mr. Tsukutlane Au who reigned earlier this
Mr. Thabang Pheko who is a Member of Parliament by virtue of
Proportional Representation (PR), is the new Deputy Minister of Public
Works and Transport, filling the gap left by Mrs. 'Manthabiseng Phohleli
who also resigned.
After the swearing in ceremony, all new Cabinet Ministers and the Deputy
Minister stood in a queue for a congratulatory hand shake by the
Government dignitaries, International Diplomatic Corps and other family
members and the general public who witnessed the swearing in ceremony.
