The Minister of Education and Training Mr. Mokhele Moletsane presented Certificates and Diplomas to five hundred and thirty-seven (537) graduates from 21 programmes offered by the Lerotholi Polytechnic  at the graduation ceremony held in Maseru on Friday.

Mr. Moletsane congratulated those who celebrated their achievements despite the challenges they faced, urging them to represent the institution well as they pursue their future endevours.

He expressed his believe that quality skills and knowledge they acquired will help them contribute towards the country’s economic growth.

Mr. Moletsane said the government is committed to support the Lerotholi Polytechnic both financially and technically from time to time so to make it one of the best institutions in the country.

He however expressed concern that every year institutions of higher learning are faced with challenges such as financial resources that affect their survival, saying there is a need for institutions to implement strategies that will help them become self-reliant.

''This however does not mean the government will stop providing necessary assistance to institutions of higher learning in the country'', he said.

Furthermore, the Minister appealed to LP Governing Council to strive towards addressing the challenges that face the staff and students before they could be taken to the Ministry.

Also speaking was the Acting Rector of Lerotholi Polytechnic, Mr. Ntoane Lepota who said the institution is in the process of developing the strategic plan to improve programmes offered as this will enhance production of quality graduates, adding that it is also intended to address the challenges that burden the institution.

Mr. Lepota congratulated students who completed their studies successfully despite the challenges that faced the institution.

He urged them to put education first in their life long journey, urging them to represent with pride the one and only polytechnic in the country.

Speaking on behalf of the graduates, Ms. Mahloli Rasethunts'a thanked their parents for their unfailing support, the Lesotho Government for giving them scholarships to pursue their studies at the Lerotholi Polytechnic as well as LP lecturers for the role they played in modeling them to become successful.

She urged her colleagues to make use the skills and knowledge they acquired, saying their training was geared towards self-employment.

The graduation ceremony ended with the presentation of awards to best performing students in various fields of study.

It was graced by the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Monyane Moleleki, Cabinet Ministers, Heads of Institutions of higher learning in the country and other senior government officials.
