At least 791 graduands were conferred Honors Degree and Associate Degree in different categories during the 7th Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT) graduation ceremony staged at Lehakoe Cultural and Sports Recreational Centre on Thursday.

Graduates completed their degrees in Communication, Media and Broadcasting, Business Management and Globalisation, Information and Communication Technology, Design and Innovation, Creativity in Tourism and Hospitality as well as Architecture and Build Environment.

Speaking at the occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister (DPM), Mr. Monyane Moleleki noted that the University is a unique global institution which while unconventional adheres to the highest quality assurance standards and offers a portfolio of courses directly relevant to the economies of developing nations like Lesotho.

He added that the University has a strong commitment to delivering industry centric courses and it embraced the TVET (technical, vocational educational training) model of delivery long before it entered the lexicon of common academic parlance. In this and in many other respects the University was ahead of the times and able to foresee how the future needs of global tertiary education would evolve.

Addressing the graduands, he said they are the hope of the nation, and that they have their part to play in the ongoing transformation of Lesotho, assuring them that the country looks forward with anticipation to their unique contribution.

Echoing the same sentiments, the Minister of Education and Training, Mr. Mokhele Moletsane said the presence of Limkokwing in Lesotho has completely changed the academic landscape and brought in paradigm shift to tertiary education which did not exist in years prior to its establishment in Lesotho.

He commented that he is delighted to confirm that LUCT has changed the tertiary education of this country not only irreversibly but also immeasurably for the better in line with 21st century thinking and problem solving.

Mr. Moletsane therefore encouraged the graduands to use the skills they have acquired at the university, to be job creators other than job seekers.

Speaking on behalf of the University Founder President Tan Sri Dato Sri’ Paduka Dr. Limkokwing, the University’s Corporate Communications Director,Mrs. Datin Nikki Lugun applauded parents, family and loved ones for the generous support they have shown to the graduands for the past years, saying without their support and encouragement, today would not be possible.

She told the graduands that the future is now in their hands, therefore should go out to the world and keep the university's flag and that of the country flying high.

Speaking on behalf of the graduands, Katleho Likoti said what they have achieved at the institution will change lives of many people, expressing hope that their lives will also change for the better.

“The future of the nation and the next generation is entrusted to our care” She said

She therefore encouraged her fellow graduands to continue the spirit of entrepreneurship, a spirit that seeks to create value and solve problems of the country’s economy.
