The funding is intended to help the ten organization to enhance their initiatives in the  fight against HIV and AIDS.

Mr. Harrington noted that Lesotho was bad news for many years when it came to the fight against HIV/AIDS, thereby applauding her for making progress as she became the first country in the sub-Saharan Africa to adopt the “test and treat” approach to HIV/AIDS.

He further mentioned that the U.S Government has long stood by Lesotho's side in the fight against this disease, noting that this is the tenth year and that they will forever be partners to fight this health threat.

“Please know that as Basotho confront this epidemic, Lesotho will continue to have a determined and collaborative partner in the United States.” He said.

In his words of guidance to the beneficiaries, he said their proposals were selected because U.S has faith in their ability and intention to use the funds wisely, adding that as they work to implement their projects, they must bear in mind that the grant is not a blank cheque.
