 • Awarded LLD (Honoris Causa) in recognition of his contributions to finance- Memorial University of Newfoundland, St.Johns (1999)
 
 Career/Positions/Membership/Other activities
 
• Appointed as Senator and Minister of Finance and development Planning (2002)
 • Re-appointed to the Senate after the 2007 general elections
 
 • Director of Planning in the Central Planning and Development department in the Prime Minister's Office (1968-1973), responsible for, amongst others, the preparation of the First Transitional National Development Plan 1970 – 1974
 • Served as Lesotho's Alternate Governor to the World Bank Group and also the country's Representative on the Administrative Council of the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) and Member of the Panel of Conciliators (1969-1974)
 • Appointed the country's ambassador to the then European Economic Commission (EEC) in Brussels (1973-1974)
 • Served two years as an Alternate Executive Director for Africa Group 1 in the World Bank Group, and finally an Executive Director for the Africa Group 1 (1976-1978). In this position he served as Vice Chairman of the Joint Audit Committee
 • Lesotho’s ambassador to the United States (1978-1980)
 • Become Vice President and Secretary to the World Bank and its Affiliates (1980)
 • During the 16 years at World Bank, he served on the Financial Policy; Managing; Reorganisation Steering; Personnel and Administration; Policy and Research Committees as well as becoming a Member of the President's Council
 • Deputy Governor of the South African Reserve Bank (1996-2001)
