LDF Involved in Rehab of Health Centres

Four rural health centres are to be re-opened on May 5 as part of a United States Embassy funded  rehabilitation of the country's clinics. US ambassador Robert Loftis will officially hand over the Thaba Ts'oeu, Tsaeng, Mpharane and Lits'oeneng clinics to the Minister of health, Dr. Motloheloa Phooko.

Work on the rehabilitation of the four clinics, which included installation of solar system, improvement of radio systems, reconstruction of clinics' buildings and relocation of the health post, started in March 2003 and took a year to complete, led by members of the Lesotho Defence Force. The handing over ceremony will be held at the Lits'oeneng Health Centre in the Mafeteng district, the rehabilitation programme's leader, Mr. Peterson Lekoekoe, told the Lesotho News Agency (LENA).

Before the official handing over, both Mr. Loftis and Dr Phooko will tour the health centres, Mr. Lekoekoe said.
