The California Foundation on the Environment and the Economy delegation in Lesotho.

Maseru

 

A delegation from the California Foundation on the Environment and the Economy (CFEE) was in Lesotho on a one-day visit on November 15, 2000.  The delegation comprised members of the California State Legislature and Leaders from the Environmental and Business community.

 

During their stay in Lesotho, the delegation paid visits to Mohale Dam and Katse Dam sites of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project. 

 

The following are members of the team as well as the offices they hold:

  • A California State Senator, David Kelly - Vice-Chair for Agriculture and Water Resources.
  • Assembly Members: Mike Machado, who hails from the Water, Parks and Wildlife Committee as Chair-person;
  • Abel Maldonado, Vice-Chair of the Agriculture Committee, and
  • Roderick Wright, chair of (i) Utilities and Commerce Committee, (ii) Select Committee of Exposition Park.

 Other members of the team included leaders from the Environment and Business Community:

  • Patrick F. Mason, President of CFEE;
  • K.C. Bishop, Senior Consultant of the California State Relations;
  • Leslie Friedman Johnson, Director in (i) the Water Programme of the Nature Conservancy and (ii) Governmental Affairs. 
  • Barry Nelson, Senior Policy Analyst at the Natural Resources Defence Council.
