BUSINESS COMMUNITY, TAX PAYERS TO DISCUSS BUDGET

Business people and tax payers throughout the country will discuss the impact of this year's fiscal budget during the Budget Night event at Lesotho Sun on Friday next week.

The Budget Night organised by Ned bank Lesotho and Lesotho Revenue Authority will give the participants an opportunity to analyse the budget speech, and to find economic implications of the budget.

The event will be attended by members of the Diplomatic Mission, Senior Government Officials, Non-Governmental Organisations and business community.

Ned bank Marketing Manager, Mrs. 'Mamoabi Ralebitso said as bankers, they need to know the implications of this year's budget speech on banks, business people and tax payers as collective and individually.

She said the Budget Night, which has been held for five consecutive years has helped participants to contribute in the national budget as their recommendations were incorporated in the past budgets.

Mrs. Ralebitso said during the discussions, the business community will be given an opportunity to interview Dr Timothy Thahane, Minister for Finance and Development Planning.

Meanwhile, Economics students at the National University of Lesotho will compete in writing an essay on 'declining Southern African Customs Union revenues' as a way of involving them in economic issues.

She said in their essays, the students are expected to come up with different ways that the government could follow in raising funds to boost the declining revenues.
