JUNE 30
DEADLINE FOR INCOME TAX FILING SEASON |
Lesotho Revenue Authority (LRA) income tax filing season for
2009 deadline ends on Tuesday.
The LRA however, stated that the deadline does not apply to
companies using substituted accounting period, 'but all
returns are due from all taxpayers other than those who have
a single employment income under M50,000 and have been duly
taxed under Pay As-You-Earn (PAYE).'
The authority has reminded all taxpayers to note this
important deadline and ensure that their returns have been
submitted as scheduled.
LRA has stated in a press release that failure to do so,
will lead to unnecessary penalty of three percent, which
will be added on a monthly basis.
'The Self-Assessment filing season which is now in its fifth
year since it was launched in 2004, targets all businesses
and individuals', the release added.
Such stakeholders include companies, sole proprietors and
individuals in the retail, service, and manufacturing
industries.
Others are security firms, construction transport, property,
small and medium enterprises, as well as self employed
professionals.
