WHO REGIONAL
DIRECTOR MEETS HEALTH MINISTER |
Issues
pertaining to HIV/AIDS challenges topped agenda at a meeting
between the World Health Organisation (WHO) Regional
Director, Dr Luis Sambo and Minister of Health and Social
Welfare on Wednesday.
The WHO Information Officer, Mr. Malekele Phori said the
discussions, which were closed, focused on matters of mutual
interest between the ministry of health and WHO, with
special interest on HIV/AIDS responses.
Mr. Phori said the meeting also discussed WHO country
corporate strategy to respond to health needs, its
application, technical assistance and support. Other issues
he said, involved WHO policy implementation to asses whether
is on track in an effort to help the government of Lesotho.
On his arrival on Tuesday, Dr. Sambo met with the Prime
Minister, Mr. Pakalitha Mosisili and the Minister of Health,
Dr Mphu Ramatlapeng.
The WHO Regional Director also had a meeting with WHO staff
and the National University of Lesotho.
According to the programme, Dr. Sambo is expected to visit
the Domiciliary Clinic, Mafeteng government hospital, Scott
hospital, Morija Museum and the Royal village in Matsieng.
The programme further indicated that the WHO regional
Director will on Thursday meet with Health Partners and
Bilateral Organisations as well as members of the press
later in the day before he leaves the country.
