MINISTER VISITS HA THEKO ROAD ACCIDENTS SURVIVORS |
The Minister of
Gender and Youth, Sports and Recreation, Mrs. 'Mathabiso
Lepono visited some of the casualties of Ha Theko road
accident at the Motebang Government Hospital in Leribe on
Wednesday.
In an interview, the Minister said, her visit was a gesture
of love, care and support on behalf of the government as its
responsibility to the well being of people.
She said being the minister responsible for youth and
sports, she has responsibility and compassion for youth, not
only when physically healthy but even in times of need.
The Minister prayed for the causalities’ speedy recovery and
encouraged them to put their trust in God's power, which
rescued them from death.
Motebang Hospital had admitted seven survivors of the
accident that included four women and three men who some of
them have been discharged.
The accident occurred when the truck transporting soccer
players and their followers on December 26, 2007 (Boxing
Day) overturned at Ha Theko and 25 people died, while 30
were admitted at 'Mamohau hospital in Leribe with multiple
injuries.
Of the 30 casualties, some have been discharged while others
have been transferred to Queen Elizabeth II Hospital and
Bloemfontein in South Africa.
