BIRTHDAY DANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS ON SATURDAY |
The Lesotho
Dance Sport Association (LEDASA) has organised the Queen's
Birthday Dance Sport Championships to be staged at Lehakoe
Sports Arena on Saturday.
The Public Relations Officer of LEDASA, Mr. Mathibeli
Mokhele said the event is in commemoration of Her Majesty
Queen 'Masenate Mohato Seeiso’s birthday. Her Majesty, who
is the patron of the association was born on June 02.
Mr. Mokhele said the competition will display the best of
the Standard and Latin American dances, which are waltz,
tango, low Foxtrot, and Viennese Waltz respectively. He said
it is the first open competition for countries that include
Botswana, Swaziland and South Africa.
He said the competition is open to all people bearing no age
restriction, noting that winners will be awarded medals and
a floating trophy.
LEDASA was established in April 2002 and since its
establishment, it has attracted a large number of the youth
where 22 dance clubs have been formed countrywide. It is a
member of the Southern African Dance Sport Federation.
