PRINCE HARRY AMONG THRONGS AT KING’S BIRTHDAY

Prince Harry, third in line to the British throne, along with his team that is constructing a school for children with disability in Botha-Bothe was among throngs of people who witnessed the celebration of His Majesty King Letsie III’s 45th birthday.

While all around him wore blankets and other heavy clothing that made various statements, he wore a white shirt and khaki trouser.

When His Majesty the King walked about the full inner circle to greet those who had come to wish him many years of healthy life, Prince Harry walked a few meters behind him taking some pictures – for memorabilia.

His team of British soldiers all of whom volunteered to come to Africa to assist in the construction of the school under the auspices of Sentebale, a local non-governmental organization supported by the Prince’s initiative in Lesotho – mingled and shared conversations with Basotho.

Sentebale which means 'forget me not' is a charity set up in April 2006 by Prince Seeiso and the Prince Harry of Wales, the younger son of the late Princess Diana and Prince Charles to help vulnerable children and young people in Lesotho, particularly those who have been orphaned as a result of HIV and AIDS.

The organization was a step in Prince Harry's pledge to continue his mother's work with disadvantaged children.

Sentebale is registered in the UK, and with its chief executive in the UK, but it carries out its charitable work in Lesotho.

It is supporting a number of projects, which include the Lesotho Child Counselling Unit, a safe house where abused children may stay while the courts decide on their cases, the Mants'ase Children's Home, the only children's home and care facility in southern Lesotho and the Maloti Crop Share scheme, which helps increase food security for 33 villages and their orphans and vulnerable children.
