The Prime Minister, Mr. Pakalitha Mosisili will officially open the Southern African Development Community Labour and Employment Sector (SADC ELS) meeting at 'Manthabiseng Convention Centre on April 03.

According to the Ministry of Labour and Employment statement, the sector deals with labour issues such as productivity, Social Dialogue, Child Labour, Poverty alleviation through the Orgaduga Declaration Migration.

It also deals with international labour standards and activities of the African Union (AU) Labour and Sector Affairs Commission.

The release further states that the sector has managed to produce among other documents: Code of conduct on Child Labour, Charter on fundamental principles at work, Code of conduct on chemical safety, on HIV and AIDS at workplace and on Social Security.

'Therefore the work of the SADC ELS is deliberated through technical sub committees when they make recommendations to the Ministers,' it highlighted.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Mr. Refiloe Masemene will officiate at the same SADC ELS meeting on Monday.

SADC ELS falls under the Directorate of Human Resources Development. It forms an employment and labour issues in the SADC region.
