Former Director of Corporate Services at the Lesotho Communications Authority (LCA), Mr. Ts'eliso Khomari was sworn-in as a new Member of Senate on Wednesday.

Welcoming the new Senator, Member of the house, Mrs. 'M'aphoka Motoboli said Mr. Khomari has been a prominent athlete over the past years, and this indicates that he possesses leadership skills.

She advised him to always participate in discussions whenever there is a motion as his views will contribute towards the country’s development.

Lieutenant General Makhula Mosakeng, on the other hand urged Mr. Khomari to be guided by the Constitution, saying he should always maintain truth and loyalty in his actions and speech.

Sharing same sentiments, the Principal Chief of Leribe, Chief Joel Molapo urged the new members to be guided by own principles and to make neutral decisions that are not politically biased.

In an interview, Mr. Khomari expressed his intention to execute his duties as expected and that he believes that God the Almighty will guide him at all times.

The 54-year-old Mr. Khomari holds Masters Degree in Public Administration and Political Science. He pursued his studies at the National University of Lesotho (NUL) and the South California University. He is married and blessed with four children.

The swearing-in of Mr. Khomari follows that of Mr. ‘Mikea Maholela last month. The two Senators took oath to fill vacancies in the House of Senate after the death of Professor Zachariah Mats'ela and former Assistant Minister of Gender, Sports, Youth and Recreation, Mr. Lekhetho Phakisi, who died in 2007.
