MKM JUDICIAL INVESTIGATION IN PROGRESS

Judicial investigations against MKM Burial society and its various schemes is reportedly proceeding as planned.

In an interview, the Public Relations Officer of Central Bank of Lesotho (CBL), Mr. Thato Mohasoa said the investigations proceeded after CBL and MKM management negotiated on how to carry out the operation.

Investigations, which are carried out by Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC) are still within the provided period of three months, he said.

Mr. Mohasoa stated that there has been some resistance on the part of MKM when the investigations were supposed to start; something which he said might have affected the given time of 90 days to complete the investigation.

However, he said it is up to the investigators to tell if such resistance will affect the period within which the investigations should be completed.

Mr. Mohasoa said the findings will be known after a consolidated report has been submitted by the investigators.

He said MKM is still continuing to provide funeral services for its policy holders, after it (MKM) sought and obtained court order to do so, adding that the plan to sub-contract other two funeral undertakers did not take off, as MKM had already obtained the said order.

MKM normal business was stopped on November 27 last year after CBL obtained court order to institute judicial investigation against the company (MKM).
