LIMKOKWING UNIVERSITY AT LP PREMISES

The newly established university, Limkokwing University of Creative Technology Lesotho will start operating on the second week of August at the School Supply Unit (SSU) building in Maseru.

The building was used as the Lesotho Science and Maths Centre of the Lerotholi Polytechnic (LESPEC).

In an interview, the Director of Administration and Operations at Limkokwing University, Mrs. 'Mathato Makwate said the building is currently being renovated to provide a conducive learning environment.

‘Besides the renovation undertaken at the site, we are expecting the equipment that includes computers and desks from Malaysia,’ she added.

Meanwhile, interviews for potential students will be conducted in Maseru and other districts by National Manpower Secretariat Development (NMDS) on Friday, while registration also closes on the same day.

Mrs. Makwate further noted that, as part of developments, they are currently holding counseling sessions for parents of students who obtained GCE and third class passes and could not qualify for NMDS scholarships.

“As part of the counseling sessions, we urge parents to pay the fees in the first academic year, and hope that if students perform well and meet requirements, then NMDS will take over in the second year,” she added.

The University will offer associate and degree programmes that include Associate degree in Public Relations, Tourism, Graphic Design, Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Software Engineering and International Technology.

The Limkokwing University of Creative Technology Lesotho came as a result of negotiations between the founder of the University Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato of Malaysia and the Prime Minister, Mr. Pakalitha Mosisili at a Smart Partnership dialogue in Malaysia last year.

It is expected that Limkokwing University will contribute towards achieving the Lesotho Vision 2020 and assist in poverty alleviation through job creation as it offers courses that strive for self-help and employment.
