DELEGATION TO ATTEND ILC IN GENEVA |
The Minister of
Labour and Employment, Mr. Refiloe Masemene will lead an
eight-man delegation to attend the 97th Session of the
International Labour Conference (ILC) to be held in Geneva,
Switzerland from May 28 to June 13.
A press statement from the Ministry of Employment and Labour
says the delegation includes the Ministry's Principal
Secretary, Mr. Rets'elisitsoe Khetsi, deputy president
Labour Court Mrs. Fumane Khabo, Labour Commissioner, Mrs.
Mamohale Matsoso, Principal Employment Officer, Ms. Liteboho
Kompi, Private Secretary to the Minister, Mrs. Marethabile
Masemene, Employer's representative Mr. Thabo Makeka and
Worker's representative, Mr. Ts'eliso Ramochela.
The release says deliberations and in depth discussions of
various agenda items of the conference would take place in
committees.
Some of the committees are on Finance and Administration,
Application of Standards, Promotion of Rural Employment and
Poverty Reduction, Committee for Improved Productivity,
Employment Growth and Development.
Others are Committee on Strengthening the International
Labour Organisations (ILO)'s Capacity to assist its Member's
Efforts to reach its objectives in the context of
globalisation.
The release adds that ILC is an annual assembly of the
International Labour Organisation (ILO), where Ministers
responsible for Labour and Employment, together with Social
Partners, organised business and organised labour meet to
discuss issues of global and mutual concern.
The discussions result in the setting and adoption of
International Labour standards in the form of Conventions
and Recommendations.
