DANGEROUS
WEAPONS SHOULD NOT BE IN WRONG HANDS-DPM |
The acting
Prime Minister and the Minister of Home Affairs and Public
Safety says dangerous weapons should not be in the wrong
hands.
Mr. Lesao Lehohla said this at the progress report on high
profile cases press conference held at the Police Heard
Quarters in Maseru on Monday.
He said dangerous weapons like 9mm rifles discovered at
different places in the country threaten law abiding
citizens as well as disturb stability of the country.
The acting Prime Minister therefore called on the community
at large and media to assist police with information that
could lead to the apprehending of criminals.
Furthermore, he urged the police to work hard and do to
their work effectively to ensure that peace and stability
prevail in the country.
On the other hand, Commissioner of Police Mrs. 'Malejaka
Letooane said some of the suspects for high profile cases
that include attacks on cabinet ministers have been
arrested.
Without giving out details, the Commissioner of Police said
they know people who are behind series of high profile cases
and their 'mundi operandi' and that more arrests will be
made soon to bring such perpetrators to book.
Mrs. Letooane said the Criminal Investigation Division (CID)
is working tirelessly to hunt the criminals and that they
know them fully.
On the other hand, the Assistant Commissioner of Police and
Head of Criminal Investigation Division, Mr. John Selete
said they have discovered weapons that included rifles, live
ammunition, army uniforms and bullets in various parts of
the country.
Vehicles which are suspected to have been used during the
attacks have also been confiscated and they include a twin
cab, red Isuzu as well as a white Condor.
Present at this press briefing included some cabinet
ministers, international diplomatic missions and both police
and army officers and local media.
