WORLD WOMEN TO
VISIT LESOTHO |
Members
of the Council of World Women Leaders (CWWL) Ministerial
Fellows Exchange Programme are expected to arrive in Lesotho
on Thursday, February 8.
The Ministerial Fellows Exchange Programme is a pilot
program of the Council of World Women Leaders (CWWL) aimed
at empowering women.
According to the Director of Tourism, Mrs Mpho Moeketsi, the
team will comprise Dr Mamie Parkie and Mrs Karen Mayne and
the Ministry of Tourism, Environment and Culture will be the
host for the one week exchange programme.
Mrs Moeketsi noted that the team comes from United States
Department of the Interior’s Fish and Wildlife Services,
adding that the purpose of their visit is to get exposed to
tourism in Lesotho so that they could link up the sector
within the association (CWWL).
'Because they come from the department of fish and Wildlife,
they will also get the inside of fisheries in Lesotho in
relation to women, women roles in fisheries and how they can
be cooperated into the association in order that women are
empowered,' she said.
Meanwhile, CWWL has established networks of ministers of
various sectors such as environment and tourism, health,
agriculture, gender, its mission is to promote good
governance and enhance the experince of demoracy globally by
increasing the number globally, effectiveness and visibilty
of women world leaders.
During their visit to Lesotho, the team will pay a courtesy
call to the Minister of Toursim, Miss Lebohang Ntinyi,
Minister of gender- Mrs 'Mathabiso Lepono as well as the
Minister of Foreign Affairs- Mr Monyane Moleleki.
The programme is funded by the Department of State of the
United States of America.
