US ORGANISES PRE-ELECTION MEDIA TRAINING WORKSHOP

Embassy of the United States of America (US) has organised a special two-day pre-election media training workshop starting on Thursday, 8th February, at Maseru Golf Club.

The media training workshop according to Public Affairs Officer Mrs. 'Mamosa Mapeshoane will be facilitated by Mr. Terry Fitzpatrick, an American media trainer. Mr. Fitzpartrick has previously led extensive training courses for various media organisations in Africa.

This workshop will cover topics of interest as Lesotho approaches national elections, including how to cover or organise political debates, how to cover political parties and candidates and how to be a watchdog during the elections and vote tabulation processes.

All the media organisations in the country are invited to attend and certificates of attendance will be awarded to those who would have participated in the entire two-day workshop.

Lesotho will be going for the sixth parliamentary polls on February 17 where at least 19 political parties will be contesting.

Meanwhile, major political parties will be holding their biggest and last political rallies prior to the election day in Maseru on Sunday as their last attempt to lure electorate to vote for them.

There are over 900 000 people registered with the Independent electoral Commission (IEC) to cast their votes throughout the country at the 2500 polling centres.
