BOXERS IN TUNISIA |
The 2006
Commonwealth Silver medallist Moses Kopo and 2007 All Africa
Games finalist Thabiso Nketu local boxers are currently
honing skills in Tunis, Tunisia.
The duo are going for an intensive boxing training in
preparation for the forth coming Olympic Games in Beijing
next year.
In an interview, the Lesotho National Olympic Committee (LNOC)
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr. Ts'epo Hlojeng said Kopo
and Nketu were selected by their association as the best
boxers.
He also said the International Amateur Boxing Association (EIBA)
approved the names, adding that the boxers will undergo
intensive boxing training under a watchful eye of experts,
using advanced equipment and facilities.
He said the training camp has been made possible through the
financial assistance of Olympic Solidarity.
Mr. Hlojeng, he said the duo have to qualify for the Olympic
Games in order to make sure that they will represent the
country at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
Meanwhile, a Volleyball national coach, Mr. Pekosela Nthako
will also attend a three month volleyball coach training in
Hungary starting on Monday.
Mr. Hlojeng said the coach will be expected to bring back
home expertise on volleyball coaching to share it with the
rest of the local coaches.
Olympic Solidarity has also played a pivotal role in
financing Mr. Nthako.
Several coaching courses have been organised and funded by
the Olympic Solidarity with the objective of uplifting the
standard of sports.
