Apile Thibeli from Botha Bothe district has brought a bronze medal from the Southern Region championship held in Maputo, Mozambique last weekend.

According to Lesotho Amateur Athletics Association (LAAA) Spokesperson, Mr. Moholi Tsoinyane, Thibeli became third at the 3000 metres to settle for the solitary medal as the only local athlete among a total of 22 athletes who participated at the regional event.

LAAA Secretary General Mr. Thabiso Moqhali had indicated that the athletes had qualified through national youth championship that were held in the country and other events such as National Vision 2020 Youth games.

Lesotho was among the 14 other nations from Southern Africa that took part in the youth championship.

The team is expected back in the country on Monday evening.
