MR. THABISI
SWORN IN AS MP |
Member of the
Basotho National Party (BNP), Mr. Seabata Thabisi was sworn
in as a new member of Parliament representing his party in
the National Assembly on Tuesday.
Mr. Thabisi substitutes the late Mr. Phale Mokoena, who died
in a car accident and was laid to rest at Sekamaneng last
Saturday.
The BNP member took oath of allegiance to His Majesty King
Letsie III and constitution of Lesotho before the Clerk of
the National Assembly, Ms. Lebohang Ramohlanka.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr.
Sephiri Motanyane oriented, Mr. Thabisi of what is expected
from him as an honourable member of the house.
Since he was not new as an MP, after serving in the sixth
parliament, Mr. Motanyane reminded, Mr. Thabisi that new MPs
will be looking up to him to lead them with example.
He noted that some people begin their lives well but
eventually end up tarnishing the good things they had been
doing all along.
The Deputy Speaker warned MPs that the electorates expect
members to serve them with distinction and not to pursue
their personal aspirations.
He noted that electorates will always be watching them and
would judge them accordingly during the next polls.
Meanwhile, Mr. Motanyane announced that a former Basutoland
Congress Party (BCP) MP in the house in 1993, Mr. Mohaila
Mohale has died.
He said his obituary will be conducted in the house on
Friday.
Besides, being an MP, Mr. Mohale also served as a Cabinet
Minister.
