STATISTICS TO
RELEASE PRELIMINARY POPULATION CENSUS RESULTS |
The Bureau of
Statistics will brief Berea society leaders on preliminary
results of the 2006 population census.
The briefing would take place at a one-day workshop to be
held at the Blue Mountain Inn in Teyateyaneng on Friday.
The Statistician, Mrs. 'M'atsotang Tsietsi, said the results
are the preliminary ones that are intended to enhance
planning by various sectors of the society.
She said the data is based on total population, by sex, by
district, by constituency, by community councils, by urban
and rural areas.
Mrs. Tsietsi said an estimation of the total population of
Lesotho stand at 1.8 million. She said the actual figures
would be released next year.
Expected workshop participants would be heads of government
departments, teachers, community council members,
parliamentarians, and non-governmental organizations.
