PM ATTENDS AU
SUMMIT IN GHANA |
The Right
Honourable the Prime Minister Mr. Pakalitha Mosisili led the
Lesotho delegation to the three-day Summit of the African
Union (AU), which will be held in Accra, Ghana starting on
01st July 2007.
The Prime Minister and his delegation were seen off by the
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs and
Public Safety and of Parliamentary Affairs, Mr. Lesao
Lehohla, at Moshoeshoe I International Airport on Friday.
Among other issues, the Summit will review the political,
social, legal and economic issues facing the African
continent.
The Summit, whose theme is 'The Grand Debate -The Union
Government Towards The United States of Africa', has been
preceded by the meetings of the Permanent Representatives
Committee (PRC), which is made up of ambassadors based in
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and that of the Executive Council made
up of Foreign Ministers from 28 to 29 June, 2007.
The Prime Minister is accompanied by the First Lady, Mrs. 'Mathato
Mosisili while the rest of the delegation consists of the
Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Mr.
Mohlabi Tsekoa who is already in Ghana, the Principal
Secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Relations,
Mr. T. Metsing, Lesotho's Ambassador to Ethiopia and
Representative to the AU, Mr. Motlatsi
Ramafole as well as senior government officials from the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The delegation is expected back in the country by Wednesday.
