PHELA TO
DESIGN MESSAGES ON HIV\AIDS |
To
enhance community's knowledge on HIV/AIDS, Phela Health and
Development Communication has organised a workshop to design
messages on HIV/AIDS at an occasion to be held at the State
Library on
February 05.
Advocacy and Marketing Manager Miss.Bolele Monyau said the
workshop follows a research that was carried by Phela in
2006 in almost all the district to find the community's
knowledge on HIV/AIDS.
She said in their findings have revealed that although
people know about Aids and how one can gets it, they do not
adhere to Antiretroviral drugs due to cultural beliefs and
preferences to use of herbs and other medicines.
Ms. Monyau said at this workshop, they will use the
information obtained from the community to fill the gaps on
their knowledge, and add relevant information that will do
away with the misconceptions, and misinterpretation about
the pandemic.
She said the messages will be developed with the assistance
of stakeholders involved in HIV/AIDS issues such as AIDS
Directorate of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare,
National AIDS Commission and Care Lesotho.
Developed messages will be transcribed into books, radio and
television dramas.
