PARLIAMENT RESUMES ITS DUTY

Local Government Service, Environment, Money Laundering and Proceeds of Crime Bills, will be among issues expected to be discussed during the second meeting of the first session of the seventh parliament to be opened on Friday.

This comes after the House adjourned for winter break following the motion that was proposed by the leader of the House Mr. Lesao Lehohla on May 28.

The House adjourned 'Sine Die' meaning without mentioning the date of reopening.

The Clerk to the National Assembly, Ms. Lebohang Ramohlanka said before the adjournment, the house passed the Income Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2007 and Appropriation (2007/2008) Bill, 2007
Meanwhile, during the First Meeting, two members of Parliament Mr. Molefe Konyana of Mekaling Constituency No. 59 and Mr. Lekhetho Phakisi Assistant Minister for Gender died.

It is expected that Mrs. 'Mankati Masobeng will be sworn in as member of Parliament for Makhaleng
constituency representing Lesotho Congress for Democracy (LCD) after her election in June.
 
The Makhaleng constituency elections were held later following 
the death of Alliance Congress Party (ACP) candidate, Mr. Chobane Moqekela prior to holding of general election on 
February 17.
Her swearing in will bring a total number of women to 30 reaching the 25 per cent of women in the 
Parliament of Lesotho.
