MINISTER
LEPONO DESCRIBES MR. PHAKISI AS A PRINCIPLED PERSON |
The Minister of
Gender, Youth, Sports and Recreation, Mrs. 'Mathabiso Lepono
has described the late Assistant Minister of Gender, Mr.
Lekhetho Phakisi as a principled and down to earth person.
Speaking during the memorial service at Manthabiseng
Convention Centre on Wednesday, Mrs. Lepono said the fact
that Mr. Phakisi was sworn in as her assistant at an early
age was a clear indication that he was principled.
She said although she has worked with Mr. Phakisi for a
short period of time since March this year, Mr. Phakisi had
shown commitment to built the ministry as he was a member of
resolutions committee aimed at ensuring that Youth Council
is establishment in Lesotho.
“There is no doubt that Phakisi will be remembered by people
in the ministry his constituency, his family and the
public,” she emphasized.
Mr. Phakisi was the President of Lesotho Congress for
Democracy (LCD) Youth League. On behalf of LCD youth, Ms.
Rethabile Marumo said the death of Mr. Phakisi will affect
the smooth running of the League as he had plans to bring
together the youth despite their political
differences.
“His death is therefore a challenge to all the youth of
Lesotho to find ways to come together and develop the
country despite the political differences,” she said.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Mr. Lehlomela Phakisi said
that they would like to remember their son as a man who had
sense of humor and the desire to serve God.
Mr. Phakisi noted that even before he was sworn in as the
minister, his brother has been providing services to the
needy and vulnerable children.
“He has, amongst others, worked with religious groups", he
said.
Mr. Phakisi is the son of the Late Mr. Tumo and Mrs. 'Manthabiseng
Phakisi. He was born on 15 October 1972 at Bafali in
Mokhotlong. He obtained a Diploma in Business Studies with
Lesotho Cooperatives Cooperatives and the Degree in Human
Resource Management with New Port University in
Johannesburg.
Mr. Phakisi passed away on July 01, 2007 and will be laid to
rest in Mokhotlong on Friday 13 July 2007.
