MAURITANIA
VERSUS LIKUENA FRIENDLY CALLED OFF |
Maseru, June
09 (LENA) -- The proposed international friendly match
between Likuena and their Mauritania counterparts has been
cancelled.
The match was supposed to take place at Setsoto stadium on
Sunday.However, Lesotho Football Association (LEFA)
Administrative Manager Mr. Mokhosi Mohapi told LENA that the
Mauritanian side failed to get visas in South Africa for
transit to Lesotho.
Both teams were going to use the game as part of their
preparations for their much anticipated clashes in the
Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Uganda and
Botswana next weekend respectively.
Lesotho's Likuena arrived on Thursday from their
unsuccessful trip to Niger's capital Niamey where they went
down 0-2 last Sunday, while Mauritania held reigning AFCON
champions Egypt to a one all draw.
Meanwhile, Uganda Football Federation has announced that the
'Cranes' will be camping in the neighbouring South Africa to
prepare for their crucial clash against Likuena next Sunday
at Setsoto stadium.
They believed that South African weather is similar to
Lesotho and therefore will have enough time to acclimatize.
A total of 16 teams will play at the AFCON finals to hosted
in Ghana since January to February 2008.
