LETS'ENG DISCOVERS YET ANOTHER DIAMOND

The Lets'eng Diamond Mining in Mokhotlong will hold a media press briefing in Maseru on Thursday to disclose details of yet another big diamond weighing 494 carats that was discovered at Lets'eng this week.

The General Manager of Lets'eng Diamond Mining, Mr. Moruti Mphats'oe, said the Minister of Natural Resources, Mr. Monyane Moleleki and a delegation of the Principal Secretary as well as representatives from the Mining Diamond were invited on Monday to inspect the diamond.

He said the diamond was discovered, where the first Lesotho Promise weighing 603 carats was found last year. Mr. Mphats'oe said, “We hope to discover more diamonds in future as the biggest diamonds were discovered in two consecutive years in the same pit”.

The General Manager indicated that this is the second biggest diamond that is yet to be named, and it is still kept at the mine, adding that details about the diamond will be disclosed.

Lets'eng Diamond Mine is an open mine in which the construction started in 2000, while the mining operations started in 2004.
