Lesotho will host a one-week SADC Ministers of Education meeting at Maseru Sun Hotel from July 23 to 28.

Chief Information Officer in the Ministry of Education and Training, Mrs. 'Makopano Semakale says the objective of the meeting is to bring Ministers together and consider SADC plan of action for education and skills development.

She adds that the purpose of the meeting is also to provide policy direction in the implementation of the regional indicative strategic development plan.

Mrs. Semakale further states that the meeting will also grant ministers platform for a common front in preparation for the third conference of all African Ministers of Education to be held in South Africa from August 06.

She indicates that the agenda will include among other items, report of the technical committee on open and distance learning, and concept paper on mainstreaming HIV/AIDS in education sector.

Other issues will include draft framework for improving quality assurance and report on the audit of the protocol on education and training.
