LESOTHO
BENEFITS FROM INDIA |
Lesotho has
benefited immensely from India's generosity in human
resource development, health, finance, and in sharing
experiences in the consolidation of democracy, peace and
stability.
King Letsie III said this at the ceremony to accept letters
of credence from the Indian High Commissioner to Lesotho Mr.
R.K. Bhatia at the Royal Palace in Maseru on Thursday.
The King added that Basotho have also benefited from India's
invaluable donation of anti-retro viral drugs as a
complement to Lesotho's campaign to fight HIV/AIDS.
He further said India has extended a credit line to Lesotho
to enable many small farmers to purchase affordable tractors
and farming equipment with the aim of increasing
agricultural production.
Moreover, King mentioned that the Indian army training team
continues to play an important role in the restructuring of
Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) and preparing its personnel to
confidently execute its duties professionally.
He thanked India for the support and cooperation it provides
to Lesotho and assured the High Commissioner that the
government of Lesotho will extend all the necessary support
to him during his tenure of office.
