LDF OFFICER
LEAVES FOR U.S. MILITARY TRAINING |
A member of the
Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) will leave the country on Sunday
for an International Military Education and Training (IMET)
program.
The LDF Officer Thloriso Letsie, who will be the first
military IMET student after the resumption of IMET program,
which was suspended for five years, will be going on a
Captains Career Signal Course, which will come to an end in
April next year.
According to a press statement from American Embassy, the
IMET program is a key component of United States security
assistance that provides training on a grant basis to
students from allied and friendly nations including,
Lesotho.
The program exposes students to US professional military
establishment and the American way of life, including
amongst US regard for democratic values, respect for
individual and human right, and belief in the rule of law.
Students are also exposed to U.S. military procedures and
the manner in which the military functions under civilian
control.
