KING TO TOUR
BOTHA BOTHE DISTRICT |
His Majesty
King Letsie III will tour historic places in Botha-Bothe on
Wednesday next week as part of King’s birthday celebration
to be commemorated in Botha-Bothe on July 17.
The objective of the tour is to familiarize King Letsie III
with history of the district, especially that that relates
to Moshoeshoe I.
In an interview, the District Administrator, Mr.
Matla-a-selo Lehema said the tour will begin at the
Botha-Bothe plateau where the King will be made aware of
important places at the plateau.
He said His Majesty will also visit Liphofung historical
site where he will be shown caves that were used to keep
Moshoeshoe’s army for recovery from wounds they sustained
during the war, adding that the place is now used as
cultural village.
“Amongst other places, King will be shown the statue that
the Makhoakhoa community intends to build in honour of Chief
Lethole of the Makhoakhoa”, he said.
Mr. Lehema said King Letsie III will also visit Khapung
where King Moshoeshoe and Chief Lethole made an agreement
allowing Moshoeshoe to be the chief as he (Moshoeshoe) had
many people as compared to Chief Lethole.
It is expected that Chiefs in Botha-Bothe, Moteng, Qholaqhoe
and Matebele will welcome the King in the four respective
areas.
