OBSERVERS FOR UPCOMING GENERAL ELECTIONS |
Deputy
Director of Elections says there are more than 300
international observers expected to observe the general
elections that will be held on February 17. International
observers would be in the country to ensure safety, security
and transparency during the process of elections.
The Deputy Director of Elections, said that political
parties are free to bring in their own consultants to
monitor the electoral process on their behalf. There are
three parties; All Basotho Convention, Basotho National
Party and African Congress Party which have said they will
have their own observers to monitor the elections.
According to the IEC, the last counting of votes is expected
to be at 5 P.M. on election day, which falls on Saturday, 17
February. When the votes have been tallied, they will be
submitted to the returning officers.
The final results are expected to be announced at about 10
A.M. on Sunday, 18 February.
