ASS. MINISTER ON CRIME PREVENTION GATHERINGS |

Minister for Home Affairs, Ms Lineo Molise says crime
prevention is a social responsibility hence communities must
join the police to eliminate it.
She was addressing Khanyane community in one of her
gatherings currently held in the Hlotse Constituency No. 13
in Leribe from Monday.
She said criminals are part of the community and are known
to most people thus making it easier for all to fight them
as they are enemies of the country.
Presenting a brief report on achievements on crime
prevention, she highlighted that about 1, 430 illegal
firearms were recovered and destroyed in June, while 3,652
stolen livestock and 171 stolen vehicles were also
recovered.
She therefore commended the police for the success despite
constraints of resources encountered, reassuring the
community that after compilation of the findings of
appalling situation under which police work, government has
taken serious measures to bring changes by next year.
Ms. Molise further highlighted speed service delivery of
passports issuing as some of the achievements of the
ministry, noting that by August next year, at least people
will wait two months after applying for passports.
The Assistant Minister said the national identity cards are
also expected to be issued by August next year.
The gatherings are aimed at creating public awareness on
crime prevention and services provided by the ministry.
