QUEEN TO OFFICIATE MWSCA 10TH ANNIVERSARY |
Her Majesty
Queen 'Masenate Mohato Bereng Seeiso in her capacity as the
patron of the Maseru Women Senior Citizens Association (MWSCA)
will be the guest speaker at the occasion to mark the
association’s 10th anniversary in Maseru on Friday.
The celebration will culminate a Dinner Dance and Fashion
Show to be performed by Tebogo Matji African boutique.
In an interview, the Association's President, Mrs. 'Matlelima
Hlalele, said as a non-profit making association that rely
on donor assistance mostly, the gate takings at the dinner
dance will be used to run the association's programmes.
The other money, she said will be used for the benefit of
orphans and vulnerable children of Khubetsoane, Motimposo
and Lithabaneng where the association runs HIV and AIDS
Comic Relief project.
Outlining achievements of the association since its
establishment, Mrs. Hlalele said the association started
with only 10 members, but it now has over 120 members and 23
associations in the districts of Mohales' Hoek, Berea and
Maseru.
She added that they trained the elderly on human rights, HIV
and AIDS and vocational skills.
The event is expected to bring together the elderly from
around the country to have an opportunity to discuss and
share experiences on issues that keep their lives going in
their respective areas.
The event has been funded by Nedbank Lesotho, Dr 'Molotsi
Monyamane, Epic Printers and Philippine Friends and ION
Lesotho.
Established in 1997, MWSCA is a non-profit making
organisation aimed at promoting the needs and rights of
elderly people in the country.
