GOVT REDUCES
ELECTRICITY INSTALLATION CHARGES – MINISTER MOLELEKI |
Government has
reduced deposit for electricity installation scheme per
household from M500.00 to M50.00 to ensure that all groups
within the community access electricity.
The Minister of natural Resources, Mr. Monyane Moleleki
disclosed this at the public gathering on rural
electrification held at Maseribane High School in Mount
Moorosi last Saturday. Mr. Moleleki said beneficiaries of
the scheme would be given an opportunity to pay the balance
of M1 950.00 in seven years.
The Lesotho Government as he mentioned, has intended to
ensure that all Basotho from villages to towns access
electricity regardless of their economic status, for the
development of their lives.
Mr. Moleleki also said that government has developed a
policy that ensures that every mosotho does not walk a
distance of 150 meters to get clean water. He therefore
urged Mount Moorosi community to unite and establish working
committees to facilitate water supply and electricity
projects in their area.
Also speaking at the occasion, Member of Parliament for
Mount Moorosi Constituency, Mr. Kose Makoa applauded the
government for having reduced the charges for electricity
installation services.
He said installation of electricity in the area will improve
delivery of public services in institutions like police and
health centres hence boost development in the area.
Lack of clean water for human consumption has been
identified as a priority for many households at Mount
Moorosi, as currently villagers are said to walk long
distances to fetch water from unprotected wells.
