GOVERNMENT
CONDEMNS OPPOSITION PARTIES ON MCC |
The government
of Lesotho has condemned the attempts by opposition parties
to prevent Lesotho to benefit from the Millennium Challenge
Corporation (MCC).
The Minister of Communications Science and Technology, Mr.
Mothetjoa Metsing said this at a media briefing held in
Maseru on Thursday.
He said the financial assistance of over M2 billion from MCC
is aimed at improving the lives of Basotho on various issues
that include health and water supply for a period of five
years.
He appealed to opposition parties to view the assistance in
a positive manner because it will benefit all citizens.
Mr. Metsing said the government is also surprised by the
move taken by Marematlou Freedom Party to withdraw its court
case concerning allocation of seats in the parliament.
He said the act interferes with the decision that was made
between the Ruling Lesotho Congress for Democracy and the
opposition parties during a dialogue that was facilitated by
the former President of Botswana Sir Ketumile Masire.
The Minister urged leaders of opposition parties to be
positive on issues intended to develop the lives of Basotho
adding that they should work towards promotion of
everlasting peace and stability in the country.
