A case in which
an employee of the Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA)
is facing charges of fraud of over M2 million proceeded
before the High Court on Thursday.
Peggy Thakeli has allegedly participated in the said offence
with one Stephen Dlamini, who has absconded.
The crown's case is that Dlamini used one of the South
African banks to withdraw certain amounts of money from
LHDA's accounts.
The evidence is that the withdrawals were made through the
help of Thakeli,
since she was an employee of the LHDA.
It further shows that Dlamini used the fax, which bore
numbers of LHDA for
contact purposes, and thereby making the bank to believe
that the funds were
withdrawn for LHDA purposes.
The case is before Justice Ts'eliso Monaphathi.
