DPM URGES FOR
TIMELY SERVICE DELIVERY |
The Deputy
Prime Minister (DPM), Mr. Lesao Lehohla, says execution of
duties should be timely delivered for effectiveness.
He said this at the introduction of the First Phase of
Lesotho Capacity Initiative for Service Delivery
Transformation held at the Police Training College (PTC) in
Maseru on Wednesday.
He said service providers should change their attitude and
mind set towards delivery of services to the public, saying
that positive attitude is required in providing quality
services.
Mr. Lehohla added that human relations should remain pillars
of improvement in service delivery for the development of
nations.
He thanked the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)
for supporting the Lesotho government to implement the
initiative and the Southern African Country Initiatives
Secretariat for facilitating for the introduction of the project.
Also speaking, the Management Service Director, Mrs. 'Malerema
Ramaqele from the Ministry of Public Service said the
initiative is aimed at improving performance and management
within the public service.
She said the initiative will be implemented in the
ministries that deliver direct services to the public
including ministries of Finance, Health, Home Affairs,
Public Service, Works, Justice and of Trade and Industry,
Cooperatives and Marketing.
Mrs. Ramaqele noted that three teams comprising employees
from different government ministries have already been
formed to overlook delivery of services in the ministries.
The initiative will be piloted in the Ministry of Health and
Social Welfare with focus on Queen Elizabeth II hospital,
Ministry of Home Affairs in issuing of passports as well as
the Ministry of Public Service with processing of terminal
benefits.
