BRITISH
DELEGATION VISITS LESOTHO |
A-three-man
delegation from Britain and Switzerland headed by the
Lesotho High Commissioner to the United Kingdom (UK), Prince
Seeiso Bereng Seeiso, toured the country in a four-day visit
that started on Monday.
The delegation comprised Professor Monique Simmonds, Mr.
Richard Unwind and Ms. Lindey Whitby.
Addressing the media at the Lesotho Highlands Development
Authority (LHDA) building in Maseru on Thursday, Mr. Richard
Unwind said the purpose of the visit was for the delegation
to assess the existing investment opportunities in the
country.
While in the country, he said they visited the Lesotho
Highlands Water Project in Katse, where he said, they were
impressed by the Botanic plants surrounding the area.
Mr. Unwind said Lesotho could benefit from the Botanic
plants as they can be used for manufacturing of medicines
thus expressed need to protect them.
On the other hand, Professor Monique Simmonds said areas
around the Katse Dam have a great potential for job creation
whereby communities could engage in establishment of
projects like Bee Hive that he said would thrive due to the
conducive weather conditions in the area.
As part of the tour, the delegation also visited ‘Sentebale’
which is an organization that aims to improve the lives of
orphaned and vulnerable children in Lesotho. Sentebale was
founded by Prince Harry.
The delegation left the country on Thursday.
