BRITISH BUIDINGS HANDED OVER TO LESOTHO GOVERNMENT

The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mohlabi Tsekoa on behalf of the Government of Lesotho extended his appreciation to the British Government for awarding its former British High Commissioner buildings to  Lesotho.

He said the handing over of the buildings marks the historic bilateral Cooperation that the two countries share. He said Britain  is still committed to assist Lesotho in, among many other areas, development of human resources in Lesotho’s private and government sectors and in the fight against the scourge of HIV/AIDS by assisting in the provision of Antiretroviral drugs (ARVs) to the affected people

He therefore pledged that the Lesotho government will ensure that the building is used effectively to serve the community's needs.

The High Commissioner of Britain to Lesotho based in Pretoria, Mr. Paul Boateng said the handing over of the building marks yet another new chapter to renew the long existing friendship between the two countries.

Meanwhile, Mr. Tsekoa and the High Commissioner signed a Memorandum of Understanding on transfer of prisoners. The Minister said this is an important treaty, as it will protect the rights of prisoners in both countries as well as internationally.
