BRITISH BUIDINGS HANDED OVER TO LESOTHO GOVERNMENT |
The Honourable
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mohlabi Tsekoa on behalf of
the Government of Lesotho extended his appreciation to the
British Government for awarding its former British High
Commissioner buildings to Lesotho.
He said the handing over of the buildings marks the historic
bilateral Cooperation that the two countries share. He said
Britain is still committed to assist Lesotho in, among
many other areas, development of human resources in
Lesotho’s private and government sectors and in the fight
against the scourge of HIV/AIDS by assisting in the
provision of Antiretroviral drugs (ARVs) to the affected
people
He therefore pledged that the Lesotho government will ensure
that the building is used effectively to serve the
community's needs.
The High Commissioner of Britain to Lesotho based in
Pretoria, Mr. Paul Boateng said the handing over of the
building marks yet another new chapter to renew the long
existing friendship between the two countries.
Meanwhile, Mr. Tsekoa and the High Commissioner signed a
Memorandum of Understanding on transfer of prisoners. The
Minister said this is an important treaty, as it will
protect the rights of prisoners in both countries as well as
internationally.
