MILITARY TEAM OFF TO INDIA |
Lesotho Defence
Force (LDF) boxing team consisting of five athletes left the
country on Thursday for Hydrabad, India.
The team will take part at the World Military Olympic Games,
which commences on Sunday to next Friday.
In an interview, the Military team coach Warrant Officer,
Liphalo Moeketsi, identified the five boxers as Daemane
Lengola who is to fight in Light Fly weight division, Katiso
Ts'enoli (Feather weight), Lillo Mohono Light Weight, Moses
Kopo (Light Welter and Tello Moejane in the welter weight
divisions.
He said, the five were selected at the military team
national games and also that they proved themselves at
training sessions.
Among them he said, the 2006 Commonwealth silver medalist
Kopo is in good shape considering that he has just returned
from a two month intensive boxing training in Tunisia.
Warrant Officer pointed out that Kopo, Moejane and Mosolesa
Tsie who is acting as an assistant coach for the team to
India, are among those in the national team for the Olympic
Games to be staged in China next year.
'The military Games will therefore come handy for them as
they will have an opportunity to gauge their performance and
also have time to rectify their weaknesses,' he highlighted.
The world military Olympic Games are held annually as part
of physical training for the armies globally.
