BOXING MILITARY TEAM OFF TO INDIA

Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) boxing team consisting of five athletes left the country on Thursday for Hydrabad, India.

The team will take part at the World Military Olympic Games, which commences on Sunday to next Friday.

In an interview, the Military team coach Warrant Officer, Liphalo Moeketsi, identified the five boxers as Daemane Lengola who is to fight in Light Fly weight division, Katiso Ts'enoli (Feather weight), Lillo Mohono Light Weight, Moses Kopo (Light Welter and Tello Moejane in the welter weight divisions.

He said, the five were selected at the military team national games and also that they proved themselves at training sessions.

Among them he said, the 2006 Commonwealth silver medalist Kopo is in good shape considering that he has just returned from a two month intensive boxing training in Tunisia.

Warrant Officer pointed out that Kopo, Moejane and Mosolesa Tsie who is acting as an assistant coach for the team to India, are among those in the national team for the Olympic Games to be staged in China next year.

'The military Games will therefore come handy for them as they will have an opportunity to gauge their performance and also have time to rectify their weaknesses,' he highlighted.

The world military Olympic Games are held annually as part of physical training for the armies globally.
