8 000 CHILDREN
IMMUSED AGAINST MEASLES IN QUTHING |
At least 8 000
children aged between zero and five years have been
immunised against measles in the Quthing district last week.
The District Public Health Nurse, Ms. Likeleli Nkhapetla
said the campaign was carried out to eradicate measles in
the district.
She added that beneficiaries also received vitamin A
capsules and deworming tablets during the campaign.
She noted that vitamin A capsules were distributed to boost
children's immune system and improve their eye sight, while
deworming tablets are for prevention of internal worms such
as tape worms.
Ms. Nkhapetla commented that the campaign has been a success
as the target was to immunise 7000 children in 104
immunisation centres.
National measles immunisation campaign was last carried out
in 2004.
