WORLD VISION LESOTHO COMMEMORATES CANDLE LIGHT DAY
 

 Maseru, May 19 (LENA) ---World Vision Lesotho says the lighting of a candle is a symbol that
guides people, even those who have already died.

A press release from the office of the World Vision says the Organization and the staff of the Nthabiseng Area Development Program (NADP) held a candle lighting ceremony at the Crocodile Inn, which started with candle lighting and a prayer in support of people living with HIV and AIDS on Thursday.

Speaking at the commemoration, the World Vision HIV\AIDS coordinator, Mr. Teboho Rapitse said the flame of this candle is a warm embracing symbol of light shining through the darkness of shared pain and added that 'This light is a symbol of hope of those we remember today'.

At the same occasion the Botha-Bothe District Administration Manager, Mr. Ramabanta Majoro said HIV/AIDS continue to affect adults, youths and children, as the cure is not yet found. He appealed to the nation to continue praying in order to have cure to save the nation.

Mr. Majoro commended World Vision for their commitment in the fight against HIV/AIDS. 'It is the responsibility of all to join in the fight against the pandemic. We pray for God to bless you and continue with good work that you have started'.

Candle light day is commemorated annually on May 3, and the objective is to honour the memory of those who lost their lives due to AIDS and support those living with the virus.

The Candle light day also aims at breaking the silence and discuss openly about AIDS with a view to promote discussion, education, awareness and action.
