UNDP Assistance Towards Population Census
 

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has donated equipment worth M600, 000 to the Bureau of Statistics to be used during the April population census. 

Resident Representative Mrs. Hodan Haji-Mohamud handed over two vehicles and equipment including ten computers, two lap-tops and a multi-purpose printer at a ceremony held at UN House in Maseru on January 17.

Mrs. Haji-Mohamud said the equipment was expected to help ease work during the population census in April and other activities of the Bureau as data collected by the bureau is of great importance to the government and other UN Agencies towards achievement of the millennium development goals.

Bureau of Statistics Director Mrs. Liengoane Lefosa said the equipment will not only be used for the forthcoming census but also to finalize the analysis of the household survey that was conducted between 2002 and 2003.
