VEHICLES SEIZED AT GUN POINT-MOKHESI |

May 24 - An employee of the Roads
Improvement Unit (RIU), on Tuesday told the High Court how three of the
unit's vehicles were seized by men at gunpoint whom he did not know, on
September 23,1998. Testifying in an on going case in which eight soldiers and a policeman stand trial on murder, robbery and malicious damage to property, Sebaka Mokhesi indicated that, the vehicles whose registration numbers are X7430 and X7431, were used by a Quarry Superintendent, Michael Khoboko (deceased), and RIU Site Construction Manager, Tsietsi Ramothobi. Mokhesi explained that one of the vehicles was found at Mount Tabor, in the Mafeteng district, while another one was found at Mphaki Police Post in Quthing, later. Raselebeli Maboee, Antipase Selomo, Thapelo Ntaopane, Neo Machere, Malefane Thamae, Mochema Mochema, Monyane Mokoatsi, Bulara Moiloa, and Mohale Khemisi, are charged with murder of policewoman Bonang Serabele, robbery of Mafeteng Police Station's firearms and ammunition, and malicious damage of Mafeteng Post Office's public telephones, on September 23,1998. The case that is before Justice Thamsanqa Nomncongo is continuing. It is prosecuted by Mr Gareth Justin Leppan, while Advocates Ts'upane Maieane, Lepeli Molapo, Bikaramjith Sooknanan, Thabo Mpaka and Thabo Nteso constitute a defence team. |
