WELCOME POTENTIAL FINANCERS FOR METOLONG DAM PROJECT |

and Development Planning Dr. Timothy Thahane says the government is looking
forward to fruitful discussions as they will be deliberating on how each of
the investors of Metolong dam would fund the project in the next three days. This he said at the dinner hosted in honour of potential financers of the Metolong Dam project at function held at Lehakoe Conference centre on Sunday. The potential financers are among others drawn from Kuwait, Sudan, African Development Bank, BADEA, Saudi Arabia and Local businessmen. He added that Lesotho is the highest point in the Southern region hence the supply of water to the neighbouring South Africa, however showing the need to supply water in the country for domestic purposes. In an interview, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and a Member of Parliament for Machache No. 38 Mr. Monyane Moleleki said Metolong Dam Project is very important for the economic growth of the country. He pointed out that during the construction of the project, it will create job opportunities, adding that infrastructure will also be developed like roads. The potential financers will also visit Metolong project and Mohale as part of familiarizing them with the project area. Metolong needs close to M700 Million for construction and it will commence immediately when funds are available. |
